The formerly announced Hydrogen Refuelling Station project in Jyväskylä is still on-route to opening the summer of 2025. Going forward Central Finland Mobility Foundation (Cefmof) will take a leading role in coordinating the project’s implementation.

Cefmof and Vireon have, through good collaboration, agreed that Cefmof will take a more active coordination role to support the project’s smooth continuation. The station, located in Jyväskylä, remains a joint effort between Cefmof and other key stakeholders. The project is still on track for completion by the end of the summer 2025 and continues to support Finland’s transition toward clean, sustainable transport.  

The hydrogen refuelling station will serve both heavy-duty vehicles such as buses and trucks, as well as light-duty vehicles like passenger cars, taxis and vans. It forms the backbone of the emerging green hydrogen ecosystem in Central Finland. 

The station will also enable Finland’s first pilot of green hydrogen-powered public transport. Five hydrogen-fuelled Caetano H2 City Gold buses are set to be introduced into Jyväskylä’s public transportation.

By refining the project structure at this stage, we’re ensuring that the initiative continues to move forward smoothly and remains aligned with its ambitious schedule,” says Haruka Arai, Executive Director of Cefmof.
