Cefmof Hydrogen Oy has acquired the buildings of the historic Jääskelän Tila in Jyväskylä from Jääskelä Innovation Oy. The transaction was signed on 27 August 2026 and includes the transfer of the leasehold rights to the land owned by the City of Jyväskylä. The land itself remains owned by the City of Jyväskylä.
The acquisition supports Cefmof Hydrogen Oy’s plans to develop Jääskelän Tila into a new environment for practical hydrogen applications and commercially oriented activities. The 1000 Lakes Distillery business is not included in the transaction and will continue operating at Jääskelän Tila as a tenant.
Located in Oravasaari by Lake Päijänne, Jääskelän Tila is a well-known and historically significant site with roots dating back to the 18th century. Preserving its cultural heritage, surrounding nature and recreational value is an important starting point for Cefmof Hydrogen Oy in developing the area. The company plans to restore, renovate and develop the existing facilities while respecting the distinctive character of Jääskelän Tila. The intention is for future activities at Jääske
For Cefmof Hydrogen Oy, the acquisition represents the next step in advancing hydrogen use: moving from small-scale demonstrations towards broader practical applications and commercially oriented activities. Central Finland Mobility Foundation’s previously announced Hydrogen House project is a small-scale proof-of-concept environment designed to demonstrate how hydrogen can be produced, stored and used in different everyday applications.
With Jääskelän Tila, the aim is to expand activities to a larger scale and strengthen their commercial focus. This is why the acquisition is being made by Cefmof Hydrogen Oy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Central Finland Mobility Foundation focused on developing hydrogen infrastructure, services and commercially oriented activities.
Jääskelän Tilan myötä tavoitteena on laajentaa toimintaa suurempaan mittakaavaan ja vahvistaa sen kaupallista näkökulmaa. Tämän vuoksi hankinnan tekee Cefmof Hydrogen Oy, joka on Central Finland Mobility Foundationin kokonaan omistama tytäryhtiö ja keskittyy vetyinfrastruktuurin, palveluiden ja kaupallisen toiminnan kehittämiseen.
“Jääskelän Tila has great potential, but for us it is equally important to respect its history, nature and local significance. We want to develop the area carefully and secure a sustainable future for this unique place. Jääskelän Tila gives us an opportunity to build on what has already been learned from small-scale demonstrations and bring hydrogen solutions closer to real-life business and services,” says Lauri Perämäki, Managing Director of Cefmof Hydrogen Oy.
Jääskelän Tila will remain a place for events, tourism and recreation
Until the end of 2026, Jääskelä Innovation Oy will continue to manage the rental of the premises at Jääskelän Tila for celebrations, events and other private and business use as before. Cefmof Hydrogen Oy will then begin restoring and renovating the facilities. Once the renovation is completed, responsibility for the rental activities will transfer to Cefmof Hydrogen Oy.
The acquisition will not affect public access to the recreational areas and nature trails surrounding Jääskelän Tila. They will remain available for local residents, tourists and other visitors as before.
The 1000 Lakes Distillery business is not part of the acquisition and will continue operating at Jääskelän Tila as a tenant. The arrangement allows Jääskelä Innovation Oy to focus on its distillery business. At the same time, the companies see potential to explore how hydrogen could be used in the future to reduce emissions from distillery production.
“The new ownership allows us to focus on developing the distillery and our local products. It was important for us to find an owner who appreciates the history of Jääskelän Tila. We also see interesting opportunities to work with Cefmof Hydrogen Oy towards more sustainable production in the future,” says Raimo Tittonen, CEO of Jääskelä Innovation Oy.
More detailed information on the future development of Jääskelän Tila will be provided as the plans progress.
