Jyväskylä Business Rally Investor Day was held for the tenth time this year. Haruka Arai, Executive Director of Cefmof, joined the event as one of the juries to seek startups that are investment-ready and provide an access to a 2-year incubation program at the Jyväskylä Startup Factory at the heart of Finland’s most agile testing grounds for mobility and energy innovation.
The goal of the event is to promote business growth by connecting companies seeking funding with investors. As an event partner, Cefmof nominated Cetrium the opportunity to join a 2-year incubation program at the Startup Factory in Jyväskylä. Cetrium is developing energy containers to produce, store, and distribute energy and power using hydrogen. (https://cetrium.eu/).
”We wanted to reward Cetrium because we think there could be some potential for future collaboration. According his pitch, They already have a concrete product and plans that seem to align with ours,” says Haruka Arai.

At the event, eight startups looking for financing presented their businesses to investors. The selected winners, Blocksport and PowerUp Energy Technologies, will receive tickets to the European Angel Investment Summit held in Brussels in October, as well as the opportunity to pitch their companies at the event. This year’s winners were Blocksport and PowerUp Energy Technologies.
– We all agreed that those two stood out as the best. When you vote, you vote with your head, heart, and gut. Both companies are addressing major problems in large markets. All jury members agreed that Blocksport truly stands out from the crowd. PowerUP, on the other hand, is solving critical energy challenges —for example, for the military and remote locations where energy is essential. And with Cetrium, we felt they have enormous potential and could greatly benefit from the two-year program,” says jury lead Candace Johnson.

Investor Day is organized by City of Jyväskylä with European Business Angel Network (EBAN) and partnering Central Finland Mobility Foundation (Cefmof) and Starup Factory. This year was the 10th anniversary event bringing together startups and investors around Europe.
