Green Hydrogen Exhibition

Green Hydrogen Exhibition

Green Hydrogen Exhibition

Green Hydrogen Power aimed to make the basics of green hydrogen accessible and engaging for people of all ages—especially children and families. The exhibition’s main objectives were to:

  • Present the benefits and challenges of green hydrogen in an understandable and relatable way
  • Illustrate Jyväskylä’s and Central Finland’s emerging hydrogen ecosystem and its potential role in achieving regional carbon neutrality
  • Make hydrogen technologies tangible through interactive exhibits and real-life examples
  • Encourage public dialogue and participation by connecting the exhibition with science workshops, business seminars, and public events

Green Hydrogen Power exhibition opened in 2024 as Finland’s first large, public hydrogen-themed exhibition. It introduced visitors to green hydrogen and its “companions”: various types of hydrogen, electricity, water, and oxygen, each presented as a character with its own role and personality to simplify complex concepts. The exhibition also featured a hydrogen-powered RC car as an interactive element, built specifically for the exhibition. .

Cefmof designed and built the exhibition concept, trained exhibition guides for daily operations, and coordinated collaboration between local research and education partners. The exhibition was open from July 2024 to September 2024, culminating in a public event Hydrogen, Power and Light.

Hydrogen, Power and Light, combining hydrogen technology and light art, was organized as a part of the annual City of Light festival. The two-day event marked Cefmof’s first public showcase of hydrogen-cooked food, featuring a hydrogen pizza oven alongside demonstrations such as a hydrogen rocket workshop, and the illuminated giant puppet DUNDU. Visitors could also explore Toyota’s Mirai hydrogen car. The event offered accessible, hands-on experiences designed to make hydrogen’s role in the green transition clear and engaging for a wide public audience.

  • Reached more than 12,000 visitors in 3 months
  • Built local awareness and understanding of hydrogen’s role in the region’s green transition
  • Established a scalable platform for combining scientific communication, interactive learning, and community participation
  • Laid the foundation for Cefmof’s renewed hydrogen exhibition, The World of Hydrogen, launched in April 2025
